This Weekend I Will...

planning Oct 22, 2021

Believe it or not, I used to get massive anxiety going into the weekends; especially weekends where I didn’t have a lot of prearranged social activities.

It was like Friday night hit, and I had no plans and no idea how I wanted to spend the next 48 hours. This usually led to a lot of sleeping, watching Netflix and doing, well, nothing.

To combat this, I started writing out a list I call “This Weekend I Will…”

Grab a blank piece of paper and make your own with me! 📄

Step 1️⃣: Set up your space; light a candle, make some tea. Make it an experience!

Step 2️⃣: On your paper, write one word to describe what you are looking to gain from this upcoming weekend. You can choose anything you want; sleep, connection, organization…. Rejuvenation 😉

If you’re having trouble answering this right away, try asking yourself: “what do I want to feel at the conclusion of this weekend?” Close your eyes and think about it for a little bit. Really sink into what you want the next 48 hours to look like.

Step 3️⃣: Once you have your word, write out “Friday,” “Saturday” and “Sunday,” leaving a little bit of space under each.

Step 4️⃣: List out everything you know you need to do under the specific day

Step 5️⃣: Write things that can be completed whenever like errands (ie. Going to Target / laundry) on post it notes and put them to the side of the sheet. Only move these once you have everything written down!! This way nothing falls through the cracks come Monday!

Step 6️⃣: Hang your list somewhere you can see it easily! I like to keep mine on the fridge! Add to it as needed and move the sticky flags as you see fit!

🖊 If you find yourself thinking “now what?” come Friday night, make a list of things you know you want to do this season and keep them nearby / tape it to the wall. I recommend downloading my Fall workbook from the website if you haven’t already; this has a page dedicated to this exercise. You can reference this when you find yourself with a “down weekend” and that way you can recall all the things you’ve been wanting to try when it’s actually convenient.

Let me know how this exercise goes for you in the comments! Excited to see what you create.
xoxo,

Allison
