What, Like it's Hard? Week 4
Week in Review:
On Wednesday, September 25, I am hosting my first ever event, PizzAZz Your Planner! It's a 2-hour workshop I created to teach you how to efficiently use a planner, what supplies you should buy and then we'll spend the last half hour creating original designs. I was absolutely blown away by this podcast episode.
I found myself getting choked up listening to it because I identified with Sara so much and her story is so inspiring. I absolutely love her personality and would love to one day meet her. I never really knew much about her but she basically asked the universe for a billion dollar idea and came up with Spanx and she is a straight up baller. She spent 7-years in IT Sales just like me but knew she ultimately wanted to do something much bigger. She came up with the idea for Spanx when she was 27 and launched the company when she was 29, putting me right on target with her timeline, which honestly gave me such relief. I am trying not to approach launching Allison Ziggy with a sense of urgency because I don't want that to be the foundational energy of my company, but it's hard not to feel like you're behind because there's literally always something you could be doing. I have really taken a step back this week to let it breathe a little bit- clear my head, focus on what's immediately in front of me in my current reality and make peace with that instead of rushing towards the future.
James Wedmore's 31 Day Mind Your Money Challenge- I started Day #1 today and I am fully committed to better understanding finance. I want to continue learning as much as I can and participate in challenges so I can let you know what works.
Books: Money: Master the Game by Tony Robbins- This book is really cool, it's kind of dense because it's about hardcore finance but I am really happy to be reading it. Tony interviews a lot of really influential people in the finance industry and asks them to share advice so information can be available to more than just the super wealthy, like it's typically been confined to.
Networking/Events: On Friday I went to the Orbie CIO Awards through work and it just kind of brought me back to my old world. I honestly felt insecure for some reason. I guess I'll go into that a bit.
Key Challenge/Lesson: My manager called me on Friday and was very candid with me because I haven't had any sales this month and he knows I'm not really even trying. He was disappointed in me and he honestly had every right to be but everyone loves a comeback right? I honestly am so grateful he yelled at me because not only did I need to hear it, but it caused me to cry which is literally a huge sign--it shows that I do care. I think I've been a little intimidated by going out into the field and hunting new business but it's necessary.
