HelloOoOo and Good Morning!
The weather is finally starting to feel like summer in New Jersey :) It makes me equal parts excited and stir crazy. To add to my stir craziness, I decided to take things up a notch in quarantine. And by I decided, it was kind of thrust upon me from the creative endeavor, The Artist's Way. I've been following the program for 4 weeks, and this week a new challenge is introduced where you aren't allowed to read for a week.
In addition to not reading, you aren't allowed to watch TV, go on social media, etc. It's kind of like a quarantine within a quarantine, right?
This reminds me of something we used to do in my elementary school called TV Turnoff Week. The idea was simple- go to an entire week without TV. As an avid rule follower, I took TV turnoff week very seriously, but as you can imagine, not everyone did. I don't think I understood the point of it then, but now more than ever, I think it's especially important to what what you're consuming in terms of content.
The idea behind this is to go on a sort of media cleanse; once you silence all of the distractions, you allow your own creativity to shine through. You prioritize creating over consuming. So, for the next 7 days, I will be committing to:
- No TV
- No Reading
- No Social Media (unless posting for Allison Ziggy)
- No YouTube
Convinced yet?
There is a lot of evidence to support the theory that this actually leads to an increased sense of happiness and wellbeing

I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully in the form of a genius Allison Ziggy idea!
