Lesson- Change is always in your favor (if you believe it is)

On Day 7, after my friend and I had finally settled into a beautiful lakeside loft hotel in Varenna, our plans changed yet again. The hotel we were staying at only had availability for one night, and we needed to find another place to stay.

The town of Varenna was completely booked. It felt a little ridiculous that we had spent the better part of a day getting there to spend one night, but there genuinely was no other option. (I technically knew of an Airbnb with availability, but come on now 😏)

It felt annoying to relocate, especially after the journey I described yesterday, but after seeing what we were able to come up with under pressure, I knew things were going to work out.

We found a hotel in Bellagio, one of the more famous parts of Lake Como, packed up and left our bags in the hotel lobby to explore Varenna for a few hours.

Around 2pm we got back on a ferry (this one, thankfully, only 30 minutes) and made our way to Bellagio. Our new hotel was in an absolutely perfect location.

While Varenna is beautiful, it is quaint and remote. Bellagio is lively and populated; some may even call it touristy. Being a city girl, I absolutely loved Bellagio.

It would have been significantly more convenient if our hotel in Varenna let us stay another night BUT I am so happy we got to stay in Bellagio. I got to experience significantly more because of the “inconvenience.”

There’s a quote I really like: “I had to make you uncomfortable, otherwise you never would have never moved” - The Universe

Change can feel so scary when you are going through it. It can feel like the way things were is how they are meant to be now, but that is probably not the case.

Seemingly undesired circumstances can pop up at any time. Things can get shaken up at work, your landlord can raise your rent or friends can move away. While life is unpredictable and a lot is out of your control, how would your life improve if you viewed change as always being in your favor?

Make it an affirmation if it feels good—"Changes always serve me” or “Changes are upgrades in progress”
